Solicitation #: RFP240353CMR
Project Name: Lee County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP)

Scope of Work: Wildfire is a considerable hazard in Southwest Florida. Historically, the County has experienced an increased risk of wildfire following hurricanes. For example, in 2006, downed trees from Hurricane Charley in 2004 provided fuel for the Caloosahatchee Fire Complex, which led to more than $2 million in fire protection costs and damage to public facilities, burned down more than 2,000 acre, and destroyed 15 homes.
Lee County Board of County Commissioners seeks to contract with a qualified Vendor to create a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) that will examine the risk of wildfire countywide and build a consistent approach to address wildfire response, mitigation, and preparedness activities. The County does not currently have a CWPP, which is required under the Healthy Forests Restoration Act (HFRA) for an agency to apply for wildfire response, mitigation, and preparedness funding opportunities through the US Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management. Creation of the Lee County CWPP will enhance the County’s ability to prevent and respond to wildfires, while enabling a pathway to additional funding for these activities.
The Vendor shall work closely with the County staff and stakeholders to fully assess the current state of wildfire risk and mitigation in the area, create a mitigation and preparedness plan, and compile projects and sources for potential grant funding.
